The Magdalene Foundation has initiated its first project working with Development Action Society (DAS), an Indian non Governmental Organisation.
Development Action Society (DAS) is a local NGO operating in the deprived areas of South East Kolkata (Calcutta). The average income for a family living in this area is well below the $1/day poverty line and they often live in dire conditions.

The trafficking and sexual exploitation of both adults and children is a world-wide phenomenon, with the age of the children involved becoming ever younger.

This commercial exploitation targets the most vulnerable and impoverished members of society.
